Dr. Cate Dolan

Beginning the Journey

Dr. Dolan

Dr. Cate Dolan grew up on a hobby farm in semi-rural Oregon with a small menagerie of animals and a love of nature. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from Yale University in Connecticut, she returned to the Pacific Northwest where she worked for a few years at both a chemistry laboratory and a horse barn before deciding to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. It was during her time in veterinary school at Oregon State University that Dr. Dolan became interested in integrative medicine, and, after practicing strictly conventional medicine for a few years, she began her formal education as a holistic practitioner by completing the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society’s (IVAS) acupuncture certification program.

Integrative Approach

Chinese Herbs

Dr. Dolan combines her experience in conventional clinical medicine with her training in Traditional Chinese Medicine to provide a perspective that draws from both of these bodies of knowledge. She is continually expanding her knowledge of different healing modalities, and is currently working toward certification in veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine, as well as learning about essential oils, Western herbal treatments, Chinese Food Therapy, whole food diets, and the scientific basis of vaccination and sterilization/castration protocols.

Staying Balanced

When not working with animals, Dr. Dolan can often be found enjoying the great outdoors as an avid rock climber, backcountry skier, and trail runner/hiker. She also loves experimenting in the kitchen, gardening, and playing underwater hockey (yes, that’s a real sport!). She moved to Utah a few years ago when her husband was offered a research position at the University of Utah, and they have been enjoying life on the beautiful Wasatch Front ever since.
